You Rock - Two Page School Layout

 My grandkids make me so proud!! 😍 Since school is drawing to a close for this year, here's a double layout of my granddaughter's school program for you to check out.

The coolest part of this layout is the back story. As you may be able to read from the journaling (or maybe not because my writing stinks), my oldest son had Mrs. Ruble for 1st grade, and our granddaughter got the same teacher. She is a fabulous teacher, so Scarlet had a great year! How cool to have the same teacher that your Dad had?? She was Mrs. Ruble's first 2nd generation student. I hope that didn't make her feel old!

I loved using this patterned paper for my baby girl! She used to have owls in her nursery, so I became obsessed with them. I still love them, and she is probably over them and more into unicorns and mermaids. Owls represent wisdom to me because of the phrase "wise old owl". I love the colors, the owls, and the mix of patterns. 

Pictured above is a few of her classmates, her little brother (her biggest fan), and one of her besties. Looking back on this now, I feel like the banner needs something else? What does it need...Help a girl out!

Double Scrapbook Layout - "Let's Play"

Oh my....they grow so fast! This is my darling granddaughter, two years ago. We get together with my son as a family every Sunday. Every once in awhile, even though nothing spectacular is happening, I'll pull out my camera. I should try to capture these every day moments more often.

 This lovely lime chevron paper is from Bo Bunny "Lemonade Stand". The felt flowers are from StampinUp!, and the lace is from Paper Studio.

 I punched a few scalloped circles (SU) and clipped inward as the bottom layer of the flower embellishments. The washi is from Studio G.

I still can't get over that this is two years ago! Maybe I'll get caught up some day, but what fun would that be?

One Page Scrapbook Layout - "You're a Hoot"

This little girl is our granddaughter!!!!  She brings so much joy and fun to our lives!! If you're not a Grandma yet, you have so much to look forward to.

These pictures were taken at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants with my cell phone so they are a little blurry.  She was dressed up, and just being silly. When you're this adorable, you can be as silly as you'd like and get away with it. :)

The chipboard owl elements are from K & C Company and were created for a Smash book. I adore owls, so I decided to use them with my traditional method of scrapbooking. It was designed for the owls to flip open to the journaling tag, but I cut them apart. The title is from Cricut's "Hoot N Holler" cartridge. I used an SU scalloped border punch for the strip along the top edge, and the ribbons and  flower were hanging out in my stash.

At first I thought the colors were crazy together, but I'm super excited with the way it turned out. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!! Enjoy your day.

Two Page Layout - "Lots of Laughs"

Today, I have another grandbaby layout to share with you. These pictures are from February last year. She definitely brightens up any day...even a Monday.

She was messing with Grandpa's newspaper. I found it funny, that PaPa didn't care at all, and instead grabbed the camera to capture the moment. The patterned paper is Simple Stories Baby Steps and My Minds Eye. I used the SU scalloped circle punch to make the banner and the embellishment.

 The scalloped circles are folded over baker's twine for a simple banner across the pages. The top flap of the banner is popped up with foam dimensionals in some areas. The pink fabric measuring tape is one of my favorite baby borders.

 Here's the two pages together. Our sweetie is almost 2 years old now, and she's going to get a baby brother next week! We can hardly wait to snuggle him. This Grandma is so blessed with adorable pictures to scrap. I can't keep up with scrapping our first...With two cutie pies, my cup will overflow!

Two page layout - "Owl About You"

If you've been following my blog for very long, you've probably started to notice a little bit of owl love going on here. I do love them!

Here's another two page scrapbook layout of my son and his precious family from last fall. These pictures were taken when Scarlet was six months old, last October.

 Their pictures turned out great. Photo credit to Eta Fe Photography. This adorable owl hat!!! I have no words for such cuteness, especially when it's placed on our beautiful granddaughter. =)

 It's a little hard to see here, but the scalloped adhesive ribbon under the pictures added a little bit of soft coziness and texture. The brackets were cut with my Cricut out of a nice gold scrap of patterned paper from my scrap box.

 The title was cut with Cricut's "Hoot N Holler" cartridge. There are so many cute owls and owly phrases on this cartridge. If you love owls like me, it's a must have.

Two Page Layout - "Guess Who Loves You"

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the beautiful change of colors, the crisp cool air, and  everything pumpkin including foods and decorations. It's just such a cozy time of year. I find myself shopping for sweaters, scarves, and hunkering down under a blanket each evening.

Today, I have one of my favorite fall layouts to share. Scarlet was about six months old here and sporting the most adorable owl hat.

 Out popped Grandma's camera, and an adorable scrapbook page was born. The paper is Adornit "Pink Hoot" Collection, DCWV.

 Border punches and and swiss dot embossing folder add texture to both the title and border strips. The title is from Circut's "Hoot N Holler" cartridge. The journalling tag is from K & C Company.

  I used Art Philosophy cartridge to cut some circular frames, then embossed them and cut them into pieces to frame the photos. StampinUp flower punches and the owl stamp and punch added to the theme.

Two double layouts - "Bath Time" and "It's a Girl Thing"

Hope you are all having a wonderful day. Mine has been filled with a busy, busy work day, emptying dishwasher, making dinner, and now time it's time to share a couple of layouts.

Once again, sweet Scarlet is the center of this Grandma's scrapping attention. She's a doll and these pictures are too precious....Rub-a-dub-chubb! LOL! I can't get over how she's changed. She's walking now and no longer bathes in my kitchen sink. =)

 The Chevron patterned paper is My Minds Eye. The bottom border may be from a Martha Stewart baby pack. Cuteness!

 Her smile melts my heart! The duckys were cut with Cricut, layered together, and then run through Cuddlebug for a feathery look. The title is also cut with Cricut's "New Arrival" cartridge. (Thank you, Jodi!)

This next layout is really old. Not sure why I haven't posted it until now. It's obviously pre-Scarlet! We had so much fun with the baby shower and had great pictures....My son, husband, and Brother-in-Law drank milk from baby bottles for one of the games. 

Yes, I'm now kind of an owl freak!  If you want to see the posts about the decorations, you can check it out here and here. These two posts are some of the most frequently viewed on my blog. Apparently there are other owl freaks out there. =)

 The fabric flowers and punched and stamped owls were leftover decorations, so it seemed appropriate to use them on the scrapbook page. We were just so tickled to get a girl for our first grandbaby!!! My husband and I raised to wonderful boys, and I grew up with a brother (no sisters). I've been deprived of all things pink and ruffly. We sure are making up for lost time in the pink side of life!!

My favorites of 2012

It's good to be blogging again after a few weeks away from posting. We had a wonderful Christmas with our sweet family. This was our first Christmas with Scarlet Rose and she added so much joy to our family gatherings. Now it's 2013....a brand new year to make the most of opportunites that come our way.

In keeping with last year, I will take a few minutes and review my favorite layouts and cards scrapped and posted in 2012. I'm hoping this will inspire others and me to keep up with scrapping and preserving all of the sweet memories and moments of our lives.

Cards - WHoooo loves owls!!! and some burlap

Hello! Here's a quick post to share some fun and simple cards.

Owls have been a big trend for awhile now, and I'm definitely hooked. 

A couple of border punched strips down the side and a little twine added a cute finishing touch. I tried something new with the 7Gypsies washi tape. I left the backing on the right edge, in order to let it hang off the side of the card. The woodgrain layer is popped up a little bit to look like a hole in a tree.

Pinterest inspired me to try a little burlap under the sentiment. Super simple, but unique.

Another cute little owl card for a young intern who helped out in our department over the summer. I enjoyed making this card for her. Loved the texture folder and how it matched so well with the circle scraps of patterned paper.

Baby Girl Shower Decorations - OWLS!!

Hello friends! Happy Easter to each of you. What a great day to celebrate the hope we have in our risen Savior!

I'm excited to share some of the decorating details of the baby shower we hosted for my daughter-in-law a few weeks ago. I'm finally getting around to uploading pictures. These photos are of the details before we put it all together. You'll have to stop by later this week to see how it all came together for the actual shower.

The theme was owls!!! Woot! Can I just say we've all been a little owl crazy ever since. Have I mentioned lately how excited we are that our fist grandbaby will be a girl!!! There has not been a Leonhardt girl since my husband's older sister, over 60 years ago!  

The invitations were pretty simple to make. I used fuschia polka dot textured card stock, and a lighter pink scallop edge along the top. The owl stamp and matching punch is from Stampin Up. I used this stamp and matching punch so much for all of the shower decorations, I was afraid I might wear it out. =) It saved so much time. I love it!! The details for the shower were typed into Word and printed four-up on white paper.

My sweet and helpful hubby helped me make the owl chocolate lollipops which were used as favors and part of the centerpieces on each table. We had light and dark chocolate, white chocolate, and pink...of course! We bought pastel colored eyes and attached them with a few drops of melted chocolate. Aren't they cute?

The centerpieces are tin pails covered with wood grain paper. They had a very earthy organic look. They look better all put together, but I wanted to give you more of the nitty gritty details here. I found some great fuchsia rose trim and used glue dots to attach it around the pails. Inside the pails is a square of burlap with several threads pulled from the outside edges in order to give it a good fringe on all sides.

I purchased some twine balls to place in the pails and push down into the burlap squares. The chocolate owl lollipops will stand up in the center of the balls, poking through the holes in the twine ball. It's a great way to keep the lollipops propped up and evenly spaced. 

The banner was so much fun to make!!! Here it is before being fully decorated. Each piece of the banner is about a foot long. I used store bought doilies on each one to highlight one letter from our future grandbaby's name. Again, you will see the finished product in a later post. I cut out single flowers from the trim used on the centerpiece pails. Later I added a bunch of whimsical felt flowers from Stampin Up. I had all of these things on hand in my stash. I will later remove them from the banner so I can re-use all of the flowers. Yep...I'm cheap likf that. =)

I wanted to surround each of the centerpieces with confetti type flowers and owls, so I got out my punches and got to work.  Picture all of this times abot 20!! =)

 

 Then I made a bunch of cupcake picks using a scalloped circle punch and more stamped and punched owls. I simply taped the toothpick to the back of the cirlce.
