Another Birthday - One page Scrapbook Layout

How is it the middle of September??? Of course, my favorite month and season is suddenly upon us, and seems like it is slipping away too quickly. 

Yesterday was my birthday! Yikes! Those keep rolling like a slot machine, but I'm so grateful for each day and year the Lord gives me. We celebrated by eating Mexican together, followed by cake and ice cream at our house. Our big kids and their wives were tossing the football in the yard. It touched my heart to see them having fun together. It was my favorite part of the day! Our 9 year old grandson is building some great skills at throwing and catching the football too. You should have seen the smile on his face!

In honor of my birthday, I'm posting a layout from a few years back. Why do I scrapbook my own birthday? Well, because some day, these photos might mean something to the generations to come. I hope they do, but if they don't....I still had fun scrapping and preserving them. These pics are from my birthday 3 years ago. 

Peanut butter pie is one of my favorite desserts. Actually, anything with that combo is probably on my faves list. We had homemade ice cream to go with! Also... note that pictures of people blowing out their candles are rarely very flattering. :)

The paper is from Glitz Design along with several miscellaneous vintage looking scraps from my scrap stash. Peep the owl!! I've been crushing on owls ever since my now 11 year old granddaughter's nursery had an owl theme. So cute!

Well my birthday is a wrap and it's back to the grind of normal life, without all the spoiling. Enjoy the cooler weather, and break out your booties, sweaters, and pumpkin spice. Fall is here!!

Meow - One Page Scrapbook Layout

 I typically scarp two page layouts, but sometimes there just aren't enough pictures to warrant a two page spread. 

We were taking care of our youngest son and DIL's kitties while they were out of town. The grands got a kick out of playing with the kitties. 

This is a super simple layout using WeRMemory Keepers "Just Chillin" and Premier "The Optimist", along with some miscellaneous card stock and StampinUp's photo corner punch to add a little additional blue to the layout. That's it!

Hello Sunshine - One Page Florida Scrapbook Layout

 Here's a sunnier layout from our quick trip to Florida. Last one!! We were able to take a quick trip to the beach to just soak up some of the warmth before flying back to freezing Fort Wayne.

I used my Cricut to journal. It's so worth taking the extra time to do this!! My writing is so awful. I used a Cricut fine point pen and the DTC Bikini Babe font. 

The paper is American Craft's "Explore", and Echo Park's "Good Day Sunshine" and "Happy Camper". I love the whimsical cameras and the fun colors. The title stickers are Close to My Heart's "Blue Skies". I used a mish-mash of different products, but love the way they all work great together.

Angry Pepper - One Page Layout

 We ate at the Angry Pepper while we were in Florida. What a fun place! We really enjoyed the food and the nostalgic decor.

This is my wonderful husband, enjoying his food. He's the best!! Always up for an adventure with me. 

The paper is again part from a vintage stack from Crate Paper "the Pier". The banner at the top uses tags and tickets from Recollections and the red button from Jillibean. I tied a little red, white, and blue baker's twine in one of the Kraft tags where I journaled.

Let the Sun Shine - One Page Florida Scrapbook Layout

 One page layouts are unusual for me, but I did several from our short time in Florida for a Memorial Service for my Aunt and Uncle in 2021. These photos highlight our view and hotel surroundings.

It's a great hotel, and I hope we will go back again some day. Maybe we'll actually be able to enjoy the pool. It was a little brisk for that this time around. So beautiful to look at, though. We enjoyed watching the pelicans and the ducks hanging out around the little marina. 

The paper is from an older stack by Crate Paper called "the Pier". It has a bit of a distressed, vintage vibe along with Echo Park's "Good Day" yellow polka dot. The green chevron washi from Queen & Co made a nice border, slightly overlapping the photos. I cut a few hearts with my Cricut and folded them in half for a little more texture and definition, and tucked the journaling card at an angle under one of the photos.

Comfort Food - One Page Layout

 Oh boy...there goes Fall! Temps have dipped down more than 30 degrees from last week to this week. We even had snow over the weekend. Wow...I'm just not ready for the "W" season yet.

Time to post some yummy, warm pics of comfort food. This warms me up on the inside...just looking at the pictures. Yes, we are already breaking out the soup pot. Tonight is leftover chilli.

I love my red cast iron soup pot. This is actually my second one. I wore out the first one. My husband looks forward to seeing the red pot on the stove. It signifies something good is about to happen!! He is so easy to please with food. I haven't made very many meals that he didn't like. Soup is one of his faves through the cold months!! It also means, leftovers the next day! WooHoo!

Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Fattening? Yes! I try to eat low carb, though, and this fits in pretty well if I use Keto bread. Anyway...I love the mix of patterned paper that makes my soup pot pop off the page. The eat sign is from Design Sapce, wrapped with black and white baker's twine.

Birthday Boy - One Page Masculine Birthday Layout

The sun is shining in NE Indiana today and I am grateful! I'm still working from home, but I'm loving the sunshine streaming in the window. I even took a little drive just to soak it in through the sunroof. I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day.

Speaking of sunshine 🌞...this man lights up my world in so many ways. He is my rock and my forever love. I don't know what I'd do without him.

I believe all of the paper used is Graphic 45. I love mixing all of the patterns here! It was fun to put together all of the elements for this page. I rarely pull out my mini alpha stickers, but sometimes they are the perfect touch. The sentiment stickers were from another set of paper, but I think they worked well with the style and colors.

Craft - One Page Scrapbook Layout

This little granddaughter of mine is something special!! She will be eight years old next month! Not sure how that happened so fast! She's very excited to spend time with me in my craft room. She's learning to use my Cricut and my iPad to find the images she is interested in. I love spending time with her, especially one on one!!

I don't love this picture of myself, but I LOVE that my hubby captured us crafting together and making memories. I hope she will always love to craft with me and spend time with her Grandma. 😍 She and her brother bring such joy, fun, and sometimes a little chaos to our little family! Being a Grandma is the best!!

Two Page Layout - "Goodbye"

This layout evokes so many memories for me! These pictures were taken December 24, 2018 just days before packing up and moving out of our family home. We purchased it and moved in when I was pregnant with my oldest. It's a very tiny, 2 bedroom/1 bath home, so we planned to live there for 5 years, build equity, and then move to something bigger...Well, we stayed for 28 years!!

 Our second son was born two years later and they could easily share a room. We were loving our home and the neighborhood, and we just stayed! It really didn't feel that small until the kids became teens. There wasn't a lot of space to have friends over, or have family guests stay over with us, and then suddenly they were 6ft 4" and they were sleeping in bunk beds where they couldn't stretch out very well....but we still stayed. 😲

 The biggest reason we stayed was for financial reasons. We were paying tuition at a Christian school from Kindergarten through highschool, then college tuition...But we started planning, hoping and dreaming to build our own house one day.

 Meanwhile our oldest son got married and later on blessed us with grandchildren, our youngest graduated from high school and got engaged. He was living with us, saving for the wedding, etc. and we LOVED having him back with us again after college. But when the whole family was over, the walls were closing in on us. It was tight around the dining room table, and my youngest had to give up his room for the grandkids to spend the night. So, we started getting more serious about our plans, pulled the trigger on a beautiful little lot, and held off breaking ground for a few more months to save up the rest of our down payment.

I'm glad that we stayed as long as we did, though. We never had to uproot the kids from their neighborhood, and all things fell into place financially after we were finished helping with college tuition....We were out of debt and ready to make our dream home a reality!

These pictures are the last family photos taken at our old house! We made so many memories there together with our little family. My hubby spent so many hours fixing up that little house. That's probably one of the reasons it sold 6 HOURS after going on the market. It was the cutest little house in the neighborhood and the market was (is still) so HOT here in Fort Wayne. The timing was perfect in all ways for us and we give all the glory to God!

Two page Scrpbook Layout - "Woodland Princess" take 2

Here is the second layout I made for my grand daughter's scrapbook. If you saw my layouts from yesterday, these are the same pics, but different paper. This one has a little more youthful look about it, but very similar.

 I like how the purple pops on this page, even with the busy patterned paper.

 And who doesn't love mini ball fringe? The scallop border punch adds another feminine element to the page. Having raised two boys (no girls of my own), I can't even express the joy in all things pink, scalloped, lacey, and flowery.

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Woodland Princess"

Here's another layout of my beautiful grand daughter for her fourth birthday photo shoot. I typically will scrap a double layout for her book, as well as for mine. That is why you see so many layouts of the same pictures! Sometimes I use the same basic layout design, and other times I completely mix it up. I almost always use different paper, though.

 Of course, she had a few outfits to use, which means I need to capture all of the outfits on layouts! :) I love this beautiful little dress and how she flows (and glows) in it.

 I loved the butterflies, dragonflies and mushrooms with the layout and the paper. It's a simple layout, but I love the feel of it...and the gorgeous baby girl is what makes it amazing!

 She melts my heart and I literally can't stop looking at her! Love her zest for life!

I used a little Wink of Stella on the mushrooms because all mushrooms should be shimmery, right?

two page scrapbook layout - "Silly Smiles"

Here's a fun layout with my two grandbabies! They are so much fun! Being a Grandma is the best thing ever. I'm so blessed that they are here in town and we get to see them often.

 Selfies are always a challenge with these two, but I think we nailed some fun shots, inspite of my lame camera phone.

 This little cluster of hearts was cut from Cricut's Edge to Edge cartridge. I used the inside part of the hearts and spread them across the page and added some heart brads.

Who doesn't love these fuzzy monster slippers!!!

 This is my son's GF, Katie. We love her like family and so do my grandchildren. They're hoping to call her Aunt Katie soon.

The paper is all Heidi Swapp. I popped up the tree embellies, and added some lace to give it a vintage look.

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Love You"

This one is for my granddaughter's album from Fall 2014. Right now, I'm only scrapping special mile marker events and ages in my grandkids' albums such a birthdays, special photo shoots, etc. My granddaughter is only 4 and the book is already filling up. I may have to have a couple of books for them. I hate to limit myself too much...lol!

 The paper is from Paper Company and Bo Bunny Safari, with embellies from My Mind's Eye "Cut and Paste". The title is from Cricut's Paisley cartridge.

 This little girl is truly my sunshine! After raising two burly boys, she's all things, pink and purple, ruffles and bows...and both sugar and spice! She bring us such joy!

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "BeYoutiful"

I love the fall, and dislike the fact that it's gone too quickly!! Because it's my favorite, we like taking family pictures in the fall. This little photo shoot was of my son and his precious family.

 Aren't they just the sweetest? I can't get over how time continues to fly by and these little babies are now 4 and 2 years old!

 The woodgrain paper is from Recollections, and the journaling tag is BoBunny "Misc Me". The fabric flowers add a lot of texture. I used a black sharpie marker to add the dots in the center of the flowers to look like the flowers on the paper. The title is from Cricut's Lyrical letters and Jubilee, and Art Philosphy for the bracket map.

Here's a fun little one pager from our San Diego trip.

We ate at the Kansas City Barbeque where the sleazy bar scene from the movie Top Gun was filmed. It a fun place to visit and check out some of the memorabilia from the movie. The food's not bad either. The jet is from Cricut's Stand and Salute.

Two Double Scrapbook Layouts - Fall Family Photo Shoot

Can you believe we are just as close to 2030 as we are to the year 2000? How is this possible? Time keeps ticking away, and the new years keep arriving with surprising regularity. Each year I'm reminded that we need to make the most of our time here on earth. Lets make each day count, because we will never get it back.

Do you have any snow yet? We had a green Christmas here in Indiana. I will miss the pretty fall foliage until we get some snow on the ground. Fall is still my favorite time of year and I adore all of the great photos we got during our Fall 2013 photo shoot. (Photo credit to Just Shoot Me Photography).

 This is a super easy layout with My Mind's Eye paper and embellishments.

 If you look closely at this tree you'll see the letter "L" carved into a heart. We didn't do the carving, so somebody else was looking out for our perfect photo shoot.

 Our sweet grandbaby is now 2 and 1/2 years old. She and her new baby brother put the sunshine in our lives!! We are so honored to be their grandparents.

It was raining the morning before our photo shoot, so my hubby and I decided to check out the area to see if it was muddy and if the leaves had started to change yet. Of course, we took a few "unofficial" pictures as we checked out the park.

 The paper is from Fancy Pants, Close to My Heart and StampinUp. I used StampinUps Fall Foliage stamp with a darker grey ink to create the leaf watermarks on the woodgrain paper. I was pretty happy with the look. The title is cut with Cricut's Lyrical Letters "jumbo".

Two Scrapbook Layouts - "Music Man" and "There He Goes Again"

My son is well into his Senior Year of college at Ball State University. He's an especially busy man this year...fighting to get all of his credits completed, becoming a Resident Assistant for the first time, being involved with the athletic department, and immersing himself in all things MUSIC!

These pictures were taken at a choral concert last fall. The top picture is of him starting off the song  a capella with a solo! I would have been terrified, but he was amazing!

 He has different suits for each of the choirs he participates in. The striped tie is for the all men Statesman group. They are my favorite! The tux was for concert choir.

 I just happened to have a few scraps of mustache paper which looked nice with the red chevron ribbon. The notes and title were cut with my Cricut.

We attended a concert last weekend which was also amazing! I took some pictures, but I'm sure they won't be scrapped for awhile.

 

If you have a kid in college, you understand the emotions when it's time for them to leave again, with all of their earthly belongings. I love having him around, and it's tough to see him go. <sniff> However, he loves the college experience, and I know he thrives there. It's all part of growing up, but I sure do miss him. Here's a layout of pictures we took last fall when he was heading back to BSU.

Two Page Layout - "Noel"

Our sweet granddaughter is so precious! This layout is from her first Christmas last year. She brings us so much joy and fun! She's just one more reminder of how blessed we are! These photos were taken at our Christmas Eve service last year. I just love her beautiful, silky, red ruffled dress!

 I was inspired by a sketch I found on Basic Grey's site by sketchsavvy.blogspot.com. I cut a little bit off the outside edges of the neutral cardstock, so the red cardstock would frame it all the way around. The four outside corners on the neutral layer are clipped with a corner rounder. I cut a very basic triangle shaped Christmas tree with my Cricut and punched holes in it to see through to the layer underneath, in order to make it look like the tree in the background of the photo.

 I cut layers of horizontal banners to go across the bottom and added some miscellaneous Christmas washi tape across the bottom edge of the journaling tag. The paper is from The Paper Company, Deja Views, and Authentique. The title font is Cricut's Plantin Schoolbook. I used burgundy ink to tint some plain kraft snowflakes that I had in my stash and added some rhinestones. The wood ornament was saved from a Christmas card I received in the mail. I strung Baker's twine through the hole of the ornament and attached it to the page with staples.

Two page layout - "Fall Fun"

Hello, November! I have another Scarlet layout to share with you from last fall.

My son and daughter-in-law carved out the pumpkin, plopped her in, and started shooting pictures. I'm sure it was a little slimey and cold, but she doesn't seem to mind it. The paper is Authentique, Bazzill and My Minds Eye (orange Chevron). I used scissors to cut along the Chevron line on the top and bottom edge of the accent paper.

I used patterned paper for the tree of circles cut with my Cricut. The negative space between the scalloped circles was the perfect spot for some journaling. Then, I cut out a BUNCH of tiny leaves and added them in a diagonal spray across the two page layout.

A few gemstones among the leaves add additional texture and dimension. 

The border on the left is made with three punched scalloped circles of reversible paper. I cut them in half to line the left side of the 8 x 10.
