Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Singing in the Season"

My son graduated from Ball State University in December 2015 and we're so very proud of him! We had the privilege of attending many wonderful concerts and musical events during his college career.

 He was in two different choirs as well as an a Capella group. We also attended a Straight No Chaser concert with him on campus. Have you heard of them?

 This young man of ours is now singing with another a Capella group called Smooth Edge 2 here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lets just say that music is his thing!

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Purple Mayhem"

Are you ready for some purple? My son was part of a men's a cappella group called Note to Self at Ball State. The whole family went down to watch one of their performances called Purple Mayhem. Whenever our two boys get together they get a little goofy.

 Oh man...the girls were swooning with my two handsome boys showing off their modeling poses.

 The paper is Teen Angst. I've had this stack forever and have enjoyed it immensely. It's edgy, bright colors with metallic accents are pretty fun. Since both my boys are sporting facial hair, I thought a mustache would be appropriate, along with the mustache washi. Super silly!

These two crack me up and I can't get enough of them. They've grown closer now that my oldest is married and out of the house, and it's fun to see them goofing off.

My youngest is now graduated, but Note to Self lives on and is becoming more well known in the world of a cappella.

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "A Cappella"

As I've mentioned before, my youngest son just graduated from Ball State University. He loved all of his 4.5 years there and definitely made the most of every opportunity. Music is his passion, so when he heard about the a cappella group Note to Self, he tried out and made it in.

My son and several others in the group helped the university to form an association of several groups. Three of these a cappella groups were invited to the Midwest Regionals in Chicago, so we decided to go and enjoy the fun! Note to Self is the top left (men in purple) photo. They did so great, but didn't win. Ironically, they placed first in 2016, after his graduation.
The paper is all from Glitz Design, along with many of the embellishments. Annnnd....my son just informed me that I spelled a cappella wrong in the title....Ugh! Guess I'll have to fix that.

Two Scrapbook Layouts - "Music Man" and "There He Goes Again"

My son is well into his Senior Year of college at Ball State University. He's an especially busy man this year...fighting to get all of his credits completed, becoming a Resident Assistant for the first time, being involved with the athletic department, and immersing himself in all things MUSIC!

These pictures were taken at a choral concert last fall. The top picture is of him starting off the song  a capella with a solo! I would have been terrified, but he was amazing!

 He has different suits for each of the choirs he participates in. The striped tie is for the all men Statesman group. They are my favorite! The tux was for concert choir.

 I just happened to have a few scraps of mustache paper which looked nice with the red chevron ribbon. The notes and title were cut with my Cricut.

We attended a concert last weekend which was also amazing! I took some pictures, but I'm sure they won't be scrapped for awhile.

 

If you have a kid in college, you understand the emotions when it's time for them to leave again, with all of their earthly belongings. I love having him around, and it's tough to see him go. <sniff> However, he loves the college experience, and I know he thrives there. It's all part of growing up, but I sure do miss him. Here's a layout of pictures we took last fall when he was heading back to BSU.

Bird project

For some reason, I don't have very many Easter decorations. As mentioned before, I'm kind of an owl freak, but I recently added this little birdy to the mix.

Here is the story of this little birdy. I bought him really "cheep" at the craft store. I think it was his cute little wire legs that attracted me.



Once I got him home, I grabbd the Mod Podge, a paint brush, and an old book. Mine is actually an old Hymnal that I rescued. The pages work great for all kinds of projects and it's a great way to give these old Hymns new life in a prominent place in my home.

Tear the pages into strips of different sizes. (Yikes...I know it's hard to tear something out of a book.) Brush ModPodge just over the area where you will be applying the next strip of paper. This gives you a place to hang on without getting your hands all gluey.  Once you have it covered all the way around on both sides and the edges, you can add a little color by smearing ink all over it.

I like a vintage look, so the ink is random. I used leftover strips of paper to smear on the ink. The next step is more ModPodge over the entire bird. Put on a thick layer and let it dry over night.

I used a black Sharpie marker to color two large rhinestones for eyes (see top picture). My pretty yellow birdy has made friends with the other feathered friends on my table. Have a wonderful Easter.

"Music Lover" layout

Are you ready for your weekend? I most definitely am!

Today I'd like to share a layout that I created for my son's album. I've mentioned previously that he had to go to a new school this year, as a senior. It's actually worked out quite well for him. He and his friends from his old school planned a chapel service for his new school. It was a great opportunity for some fun shots of him with his old friends. The've performed together qiute often, so it was almost like old times!

Here's the left side. The paper was all from my stash of scraps, except the base which is Basic Grey charts and graph stack. The title was cut as one piece with "Quarter Note" Cricut cartridge, along with the flourish.

I used Fiskars notebook border punch along the sheet music paper at the bottom. Both layers of the heart were cut freehand, as well as the little tiny heart, then I tucked them behind the title. I pumped it up a little with foam adhesive. 

Here's the right side of my layout showing the kids hamming it up for the camera afterward. FYI...both my boys participated. My oldest married son, Joel, is in the bottom right corner of the group, and my youngest son, Jacob, who is the senior this year, is in the upper left corner of the group shots.

Here's a close-up of the guitar and the little musical notes, also from "Quarter Note" cartridge. Love!!

The interesting thing about this layout is that I thought it was done prior to putting on all of the little musical notes. It just seemed like it was missing something until I added them several days later.
