Fall Themed Cards

Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you are enjoying this great day of thanks and praise and are taking time to think about your many blessings.

We had our whole immediate family here today for a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings. Almost 28 years ago, when we were first married, there was just the two of us around the table, and then there were four of us after we had our two boys. Three years ago my oldest son blessed us with a lovely daughter-in-law! Last year, we were blessed by a sweet little granddaughter who brings us so much joy!! And...we are expecting our second grandbaby in April of next year!! We are truly blessed!!

I'm hanging on to this day of Thanksgiving for the entire day today. The hustle and bustle of Christmas will swoop in on us tomorrow, but for today, it's still a day to give thanks to my God for who he is and all that he does. With all the beauty of autumn in mind, I'm posting a few cards that share this theme.

This Thanksgiving card was Pinterest inspired using the SU grunge stamp.

 Another super simple design of layered scraps.

 I dug out my SU layered photo corner punch to make this super simple Chevron design on Kraft.

 This is another Pinterest inspired design that I made into a sympathy card.

 Love the beautiful leaves on this SU set...I'm sad to put it away until next fall. =(

 This is the birthday card I created for my Mom. She loves all the beauty of autumn.

 Another super simple sympathy card. I love to use texture folders. I can't get enough of them.

Pinterest Inspired Cards

Any Pinterest lovers out there? Oh my...I probably spend way to much time pinning. I've found some great ideas and it's an awesome thing to sort through all the great ideas when I'm ready to make a card.

1) Butterfly Love

This one caught my attentenion because of the pretty butterflies that popped off the white on white layers. This was the first time I'd stamped first, then dry embossed the stamped image. It's a great effect. Thaks for the inspration: http://www.bellarosecards.com/2013/02/bright-butterflies.html

2)Horizontal Pennants

I changed this one up with the colors, and the punched butterfly, but the inspration came from
http://caline-paperwitch.blogspot.de/ I love the way this turned out and I'll definitely make something similar again some day soon. Pretty simple and lots of fun with layering stamps and pennants.

3) Hello Cut Out

I've been wanting to try using the negative image on a card, and when I saw this one on Pinterest, I definitely had to give it a try.  http://noonuh.blogspot.com/2012/04/its-been-so-long.html . I couldn't find the actual post for this card because the pin was tagged to the home page of the blog. I practiced with a scrap first to know where to set the size dial on my Cricut. I popped up the negative, and punched a layered flower for the embellishment. Fun!

4)Distressed Sun Burst

The inspiration for this came from the printed paper and the sunburst die cut. I didn't follow the technique linked to the Pinterest image. Instead I tore the hymnal page to be smaller than the card face, attached it to card stock, inked my embossing folder, then ran the hynmal page through the press in the inked folder. A few easy cards

It's snowing again here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The snow is very pretty and starting to accumulate and add to the few inches already on the ground. January is almost over already, so spring can't be too far away now. The older I get, the less I enjoy the cold, frozen tundra at this time of year.

A few weeks ago, I put a couple of cards together one evening. Since I haven't had much scrappy time lately, the cards are a nice little crafty "fix" for me. Thought I'd share these with you today.

First card is a Sympathy card. The image and sentiment stamps are both SU, and I used the Tim Holtz "Woodgrain" texture fade embossing folder. I am on a major TH embossing folder craze right now! He has some additional new folders coming out in a few months. I have almost every one of them and can't wait to buy the new ones! The designs are great and they make such a nice deep impression. I like the way the olive velvet ribbon ties it all together.

The second card is a baby card for some friends. The sentiment stamp is SU, and the image is from an acrylic set that has all kinds of images pertaining to babies. If somebody wants to know the brand, I can find it for you. I used an eyelet border punch on striped paper for another layer of color. The nifty striped canvas ribbon topped it off nicely attached with a staples.

I am super excited for tomorrow night! I'll be scrapping with some friends all Friday evening, and again all day on Saturday. Can't wait to share it all with you here later. ENJOY your weekend!

More cards to share

Hello friends! Happy Wednsday. I have some more cards to share with you today so I'll get right to it.

This first one is my favorite of the three. It was designed for my parents 56th anniversary!! I don't know if I shared before that my son Joel was married on their anniversary on August 7. So while I was making the wedding card, I was making an anniversary card for my parents. Kind of special, right?? I love that they will share their anniversaries. Anyway, back to the card....Everything was cut with my Cricut machine "Sweethearts" cartridge. All of the layers are included and cut to size. I sprayed the nest with brown smooch spray to give it a dirty, sparkly look. The red heart has some flocking. This was my 2nd attempt using flocking. First time was not as cute. =)

This one is a sympathy card for my son's girlfriend who lost her Grandmother. I used a sketch from "Clean and Simple" blog. The tree is a Stampin Up stamp.
The last one is really the same sketch I used for the sympathy card, except this one is a baby girl card. It was quick and easy.

Cards

I'm making time for a really quick post before Jacob's soccer game.

I made these a few weeks back. The snail is a 3D sticker embellishment that I've had in my stash for awhile. I really liked the orange buttons with it. This one came together pretty fast for me.
The next baby boy card is my fave! I sent it to my nephew and wife in Dallas area who are expecting their very first baby later this year. We can't wait. I was following a sketch but didn't like it until I used the crimper on the star, and then added the baby blue star stamps on the white background. That seemed to pull it all together for me.
The last is a sympathy card for our Pastor's wife whose Mom passed away recently. I just love how the tree stamp (SU) turned out. I'm still a rookie stamper....practice, practice, practice!
I'm scrapping this Friday night and Saturday! Can't wait. Need to print some pictures out so I have something to work on. LOL! =) Have a great weekend!

Just finished this sympathy card using a great sketch challenge from http://letsscrap.ning.com/ I enjoyed doing it for some friends who lost their beloved husband/father. It's a little tricky piecing the pictures to the right size, but I think it was worth the effort.

Oh and a big thank you to some of the crafty bloggers at 52Sketches52Weeks who showed me a little trick on manually cropping my photos in Picasa. I'm tickled to be able to crop out the not-so-lovely backgrounds of my kitchen, dining room, or wherever I'm photographing the layout or card. Thanks so much. I should have asked the question a long time ago.
