Two Page Layout - "U R Here"

The sunshine today has been beautiful. I just took a quick walk with my dog and it's deceivngly chilly out there still. I have faith that spring is coming, and I'm ready.

We took a trip to Lake Placid, New York, in September 2011. You must go and check it out sometime. I was there on business, but we extended a few days to see all the sights. Unfortunately my husband was behind the camera and I was the focus of attention. I much prefer it the other way around.



I do love the colors in this layout. I splurged on a pack of pretty flowers and went to town with them.

We were actually checking out the ski slopes where the olympics were once held. Gorgeous views!! The title is from Graphically Speaking (Cricut)....One of my favorite "go to" cartridges, especially for a quick title.

You can't see it here, but the lacy border strip is actually fuzzy. Wish you could feel it. =) I broke my own rule and didn't really journal, except for the date and place. The view kind of say it all, and this was one of several layouts from the same area.

Cute Mrs. Scarecrow and another double layout "Natural Treasure"

As I was driving home from work tonight I was in awe of the beauty of this time of year. The sun showed it's face just long enough to set the trees on fire with color. The contrast of the bright colors against the dark gray sky was truly glorious!! I hope that you are taking time to notice the beauty all around you.

 

My Mom had her 78th birthday earlier this month. She lives three hours away from me and I struggle with the fact that I can't always get there to celebrate her birthday with her. She's super hard to buy for, so I try to think of something special that will light up her day. I landed on this adorable scarecrow on Pinterest from Splitcoast Stampers. The next day, I made my own. It was so much fun!!

I made mine from scraps. Unfortunately, I don't have the top note die from SU, so I cut my own similar shape from my favorite "Art Philosophy" cartridge. It's a bit more elongated, but it worked great. My piercing tool worked well around the edge along with some distressing ink . Don't be afraid to draw on her sweet eyelashes, smile, blush and the stitching. It's super easier...You can do this!! By using the Cricut machine to make this, you could make it big enough to hang on your front door. =)

I cut two more of the same bracket shape to use for her hat. A short end was used for the hat itself and a slice from the long end for her brim. I ran both pieces through the Cuddlebug before attaching them.

 

 

The bird was also cut with Art Philosophy, but I used my 5 point flower punch from SU (two layers) for the sunflower. I had a bunch of burlap laying around so I pulled out some threads and tucked it under the bird. The leaf pins (Archivers) added a nice touch. I folded some stiff cardstock and added it to the back, like an easel to stand it up. I wrote a note to my Mom on the front edge of the easel.

 

She turned out so adorable, and I had a REALLY hard time putting her in an envelope and sending her off, but I did. I told my Mom not to ever throw her away. I don't think she would, but I'd like to see my Lady Scarecrow again some day.

 

Don't hold me too it, but I think this is my last scrapbook layout from our Lake Placid visit last year.

It's such a beautiful place to visit. You should check it out sometime! There's quite a bit to do and sights to see even before the trees change. We went in mid September, so we missed the color season.

Scrapbook layouts - "Gondola Ride" and "Rapid Water"

Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was both relaxing and productive.

I have a few more scrapbook layouts to share with you from our New York trip last September. It was such a great trip and so many beautiful pictures = lots of scrapbook layouts! Not sure why I didn't get any pictures of my hubby in the gondola. Guess we were concentrating on the beautiful scenery around us.

The patterned paper is Me & My Big Ideas. The lovely banner here is made with a bunch of lovely scraps I had lurking in my scrap box. The September ticket is Close to My Heart, along with chipboard banner pieces and the two stamped flags. The ribbon is from the Making Memories "Panorama" line. I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the paper to fit the chipboard.

The views were beautiful from all angles. I can almost envision all of the people and skiers that must flood this place every winter.

Next up is a layout of pictures we took down by the Ausable River that ran along the mountains in NY. On the left page I popped up the center of the banner (Basic Grey) with adhesive foam squares to give them each a 3D look. The paper "Adirondack Mountain" was found at a cute little scrapook store downtown Lake Placid. The journalling ticket is from Deja View.

The chipboard letters are Cosmo Cricket. Vellum sentiment on left page is from Studio 112. I added a cute little office tag from Basic Grey on the right, and the rain dots are from Cloud 9 Deisgn.

Double layout - Exploring

I'm so excited that we are finally getting some long overdue RAIN!!! Not sure how many of you are experiencing drought conditions, but everything is dry and scorched here. Thank you, Lord!!! It even smells like rain. =)

Today, I'm sharing another layout from our upstate New York trip last fall. I tore Authentique paper diagonally and placed it on solid khaki paper from The Paper Company to represent the mountains. The edges are inked along the tear with Tim Holtz distress ink (pumice) I love the distressed look of the Authentique paper!! Can't get enough.

The compass is from Graphically Speaking, along with the Scenic Route tag. I used Kraft paper for the background on both, as well as the tree trunks. All of the photos are matted on white and distressed.

Loving the picture that I took through the window into the side mirror, showing the great view behind us!! My husband's idea. =) The mountain diecut with the tree cutout is from the Going Places cartridge. The gingham print paper is Pebbles "Fresh Goods". It made a cute title along with a twine bow and button.

Double scrapbook layout - "Glorious Views"

Hello!! Happy Monday to all. What a glorious day we are having here in northeast Indiana!! The weather is just perfect. We really need rain, but if it's not going to rain, I pick this every day!

It's definitely time to post another double scrapbook page featuring more pictures from our Lake placid, NY trip last year. The views were spectacular.

 The patterned paper is K & C Company "Happy Trails". I used my Fiskars postage stamp border punch and StampinUp! flower punch on this side. The felt leaves are also from SU.

 The  font was cut with Cricut's Art Philosophy cartridge. I use the cartridge ALLLLL the time. If you only want to get one cartridge (plese realize it would be next to impossible to restrain yourself to only one), this would be THE one to get. I used strip style journalling and miscellaneous buttons to top off the flowers.

Two double layuots - "Around Town" and "Miracle"

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!! I wish I were scrapping, but hopefully soon! Thought I'd better at least take time to post something. =)

This is another layout of Lake Placid, NY. We were there last fall and I'm still working on cranking out the pages. We took so many pictures. I'm trying to only scrap the best, but still have a lot to work on.

I had lots of fun with circles and faux stitching. The base is Little Yellow Bicycle's "Twig". All of the circles came from my scrap box, Cloud 9 Design, Deja Views, and more. I lined up the photos on a matt edged with the Fiskars postage stamp border punch.

The circles are made with SU 2.5" circle punch. I used journalling strips and inked the edges with T. Holtz pumice distressing ink.

The title font is from Cricut Cake's Birthday Cake cartridge.

Do you remember the 1980 winter Olympic games when the US defeated Russia for the gold medal in hockey? Okay, so I'm not a hockey fan at all, but those olympic games are a huge part of Lake Placid's claim to fame. You should check out the movie made about it called "Miracle on Ice". These pictures were taken at the arena where it all happened.

The paper is Coredinations and Paper Studio. I opted for letter stickers from The Paper Studio for the title. I matted the photos with two different colors of gray. The fun 3D looking star accent is from the Art Philosophy cartridge.

It's extremely rare for me to not use any patterned paper on a page. I wasn't even thinking about it at the time, but sure enough, there is none to be found. =) It lets the multiple pictures (9!!) shine through and be the stars of the page.

Two new scrapbook layouts - "Dude" and "Picturesque"

Hello! What beautiful weather we're having here in Indiana. Quite a bit chillier than last week, but it's still so great to see all the leaves and flowering trees in all of their glory!

All of the sunshine is inspiring me to share a beach layout from spring break last year. My son was invited to join a family and his classmates in Florida! Lucky! The beach is made of cork. The starfish are from Cricut--Life is a Beach. The wave was cut freehand...I added stickles to the edge to sparkle it up. The pictures are so great of the guys hamming it up for the camera. They crack me up! Ahhhh....Makes me want to go on spring break. What is that anyway? =)

Next is another layout from our New York trip. This church is located downtown Lake Placid. My hubby got some great pictures of it...They were begging to be scrapped. The title font is Cricut--Quarter Note.

I trimmed around the vines on the patterned paper and added to other parts of my page. I also used the bracket border punch.

Two new double layouts - "Boat Tour" and "Lake Homes"

Happy Tuesday! Oh what a crazy life I live right now. I've really missed my blogging time! I hate when  a week goes by without a post; however, sometimes it just can't be helped.

Today I want to share a few more double layouts that I recently completed of our trip to Lake Placid last September. My hubby and I took a boat tour of Lake Placid on a cute little pontoon boat...It was wonderful! The lake houses were simply amazing and so ridiculously magnificent. I can't even imagine this kind of lifestyle.

I found this lovely paper at a wonderful little gift shop/scrapbook store in the town of Lake Placid. Oh no...I just noticed that the bottom half of my "t" in the title has peeled off. What? How frustrating, to notice that now as I'm posting. =( ...Anyway, the paper was so pretty, that I simply matted the photos in off-white and overlapped them in the center of the layout. StampinUp's decorative label punch was perfect for the journalling.

I matted the 3 wallet size photos together, film strip style, with a little extra on the right. The border stamp is also from StampinUp for just a little extra detail on the page.

Here are the two pages together, so you can see the whole picture of the beautiful mahogany boat. These boats are worth a huge amount of money and we saw plenty of them parked in the boat garages along the edge of the lake.

 

The embellishments on this second layout are also from the cute little scrapbook shop in town. I loved these little brads and stickers! The paper on the left side page wasn't from there; however, and the brand is escaping me. I will try to look that up and add a comment below. The strip down the middle was a bit of an experiment. The paper is folded up and attached with a brad in the center of each fold. I fringed the ends with the Martha Stewart fringing scissors. The title was cut with my Cricut machine, Lyrical Letters cartridge.

On the right side, I used more of the fun paper purchased there in town. There were so many great pictures of this boat tour, the simplest way to scrap as many as possible was to print wallets and lay them out in a grid. This left plenty of space for my strip style journalling and the cute little "HOME" sticker that came with the mystery paper (left side). I love when I find papers and embellishments that all blend, even though, they're not from the same manufacturer. The house embellishment (lower right) was cut with my Cricut machine, Going Places cartridge. How perfect is that? =)
