Birthday cards for the guys!

Time for some scrappy birthday cards...
This one is for my brother (my only sibling). He is a bird and nature lover, so I hope he likes it. This one is made totally from scraps.
This favorite of mine is for my younger son Jacob who just turned 18. He is an avid bicyclist. He's been really busy with soccer and school lately, but give him some free time and he's off! I used my markers to color in the stamps (Stampin Up). He liked it a lot!This one is for my oldest son who just turned 20. They actually share the same birthday!!! He loves to play the guitar. He was impressed with this card and is proudly displaying it in his really cool man cave where he plays his music. Background stamps are again from Stampin Up. The guitar is cut with my Cricut (Indie cartridge).

All about Jacob

Wow...Where has this week gone? It's clouding up outside and getting ready to pour. Taking a minute or two to share another new layout with you.

I've scrapped these pictures before for Jacob's scrapbook; however, I wanted them in our family book too. We took Jacob to get his pictures taken back in the fall of 2008. He actually had a little fun and I think they turned out so well. The hair....well the hair was a few styles ago (thankfully)....never a favorite of mine, but still scrapworthy!!!
The pictures were printed with the brushed white edges and I'd planned ahead enough to know that all of these would be together on a layout. I used a distressed khaki paper and went to town cutting out circles from the patterned paper. It didn't seem done, so a few days later, I stapled on the striped ribbon at the bottom and it helped a lot to ground it. Then I had the urge to doodle around the edges of the page. I have a plastic ruler that has a cut out to follow to draw a line and a small circle. It's all kind of random, but I am really happy with it now. There is also doodling around the outline of the Fiskar's bracket punch.

Spirit Week - Homecoming double layout

Here's one that didn't turn out how I originally planned, but I ended up liking it a lot. I'm sure that never happens to you?For homecoming week, the highschoolers decorate a portion of the hallway according to a certain theme. This year's theme was Winter Olympics. They did a great job. They also dress crazy and have all kinds of other competitions between the classes. I love the picture of the large gum ball. Eeeeew! Apparently, everybody gets to add to the ball when they want to dispose of their gum...less gum under the desks now, I hope?

Anyway, I should have stamped further out along the edge of the page. My pictues cover up most of the background stamps. You should be able to double click the photo to enlarge it. I used the Stampin Up "Elements" collection. (I think that is what they're called.) Hope Angie appreciates the free "plug" for SU stamps. My collection is growing!

Party Time 2009 layout

Here is a layout of my sons' birthday party and dinner out. My boys have the rare and "special" priviledge of sharing their special day with each other! Yes, they pretty much hate it, but my hubby and I sure think it's fun! Joel turned 19 and Jacob 17 last year. I can't believe how time has flown by. They're 6'4", extremely talented and charming, and they both make us so proud!

I absolutely love the colorful and crazy ribbon. I stamped the peace signs (my inspiration for the layout) on the circles on the right side of page to tie in the birthday cake that I made for them that had a big peace sign on it (shown in picture on the left side of the layout. The black birthday cake was cut from my Cricut and of course I used stickles to glam up the candles a little. This was a fun layout to do. Hope it inspires you!
