Published Layout - Spring 2024 Creative Scrapbooker Magazine

Hello friends! I'm super excited to share this bit of news with you. My layout "Happy Place" was selected to be published in the Spring 2024 issue of Creative Scrapbooker magazine!!! This issue is stunning and full of all kinds of inspiration. You can check me out on page 116!

This layout features photos of me in my scrapbook/office space! We built and moved into our home at the end of 2017 and was blessed with my very own dedicated crafting space for the first time in my life! It truly is my "happy place". I still work a full time job, but love the moments I can get in there and play around with all my crafty stuff. The layout also reminds me to practice self love. These photos of me turned out okay, but who knew they'd show up on a published layout. Yikes!

If you've never checked out one of their magazines, you definitely are missing out! You can view a super quick online preview here and scroll down to the short video. Every page of this issue is full of colorful inspiration and will feed your longing for sunshine and all the Springy things.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Have a blessed and crafty week!

Shine - Two Page Scrapbook Layout

Oh how I love fall. Are you ready?? Could fall last forever, please? Time to share some fall inspiration with you.

We took the kids to the sunflower field for a fun photo shoot a few years ago. I'm so far behind in posting, but I love reliving all the memories as I look through them all.
Grandkids are just the best, aren't they??
My sweet, beautiful Scarlet!! She is my girl fix. I've never been blessed with a sister, or a daughter of my own, but I've got this girl! I created this layout for her photo album. It had been a year or so since I had added any pages. She is always so excited to look through her book.
I didn't use the typical fall themed paper. I knew she would enjoy these colors, though. The paper is PhotoPlay "Memory Lane" and Pink Paislee by American Crafts "Again and Again". The
journaling card is Vicki Boutin. CTMH glimmer brushes came in handy for the center of the sunflowers.
Thanks for looking!! Enjoy your week.

Paper Flowers

Do you remember the fragrance sticks that many of us used to have (or maybe still do)? You know...the decorative bottles with bamboo sticks standing in fragrant oil? See an example below which will serve as my "before" picture.

I had some on my desk at work for about 10 years! I never added more oil and they just sat there, collecting dust. Mine had small plastic flowers on the top end of the sticks and the bottle was shorter.

My sweet, long-time friend from work recently had neck surgery. I wanted to take her something special. Knowing real flowers wouldn't last very long, I decided to take a stab at making my own. Then I remembered these not so lovely bamboo sticks sitting in the cute glass bottle! Time to upcycle!

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. My girlfriend loved them, especially knowing I made them for her. Sadly my cell phone doesn't take the best pictures, but hopefully you get the idea.
I cut the layers of flowers with my Cricut. I used two large daisy-like flowers, and 3 smaller flowers on each bamboo stem. I used a black Sharpie marker on the top and bottom of the plastic flowers to darken them. They were pastel before. I used a small hole punch in the center of each layer of flower, stacked them up and put the bottom of the bamboo through the holes, using a little bit of glue on each layer to hold it all together. Wink of Stella added a bit of a frosty shine to the top layer.

I washed out the bottle, of course, and tied some twine around the top and the bamboo fragrance sticks have been reborn!! 😍Hope you like them. I may have to make some for myself.
