Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Location, Location, Location"

I'm still working my way through the layouts from our California trip last year. This one features pictures from our brief visit to Beverly Hills! Yes, it's beautiful there, but no, we didn't see anybody famous. :)

 I really like the way this layout turned out. The colors are vibrant and it has a vintage look! The title was cut twice from Cricut's "Graphically Speaking" cartridge. I attached them with foam dimensional squares between the two layers to give it extra definition and to create a shadow effect. Placing it on the white circle and setting the title on an angle really made it pop.

 I adore the Route 66 die cut from Cricut's "Nifty Fifties" cartridge! How cute is that!?! My husband and I would like to drive the entire route of Route 66 some day...bucket list trip. October Afternoon's circle alpha stickers add to the vintage look of the page and echo the polka dot patterned paper from Simple Stories "Snap". The arrow and yellow stars are also from "Nifty Fifties". I attached the stars with mini red brads.

Pretty easy page, really, with just enough embellishments to let the photos be the focal point. Using wallet size photos helps me to pack in the pics and still have room for design elements.

Two Page Scrapbook Layout - "Fun and Games"

When my husband's family gets together for any extended length of time, we end up seated around the table playing games. We're a bit competitive, but mostly it's just about having fun together. Our favorite game to play with a big group is Mexican Trains. Every once in awhile we have to break out the rules to make sure nobody is bending them in their direction. =)

We played together during our Christmas celebration a few weeks ago, but last year, I actually took some pictures with a scrapbook layout in mind. Do you ever do that?

The domino paper is from Pickle Press. Our family is a colorful bunch...a little light blue and red cardstock run through the crimper and some black and white ribbon was just enough to bring out the color in the photos. The file tab was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge. I used matching teal brads to attach it to the page.

 The title was cut with Cricut's "Nifty Fifties" cartridge. My hole punch came in handy for lots of pretty colored domino dots to scatter diagonally across the page.

I took a bunch of random shots during the game, then made everybody stop and pose while I took pictures of their hands, and the funky domino design. I even took a few of the additional items that we used for the extra trains. (There is never enough trains for each person when we all play.) If you look closely, you'll see my favorite...an eyeball from an old stuffed toy that my grandpuppy chewed up.

 The pop top and bitty stamp is from StampinUp. I ran it through the Cuttlebug to flatten and fold down the edges. I layered it onto a scalloped circle, and added a ticket stamped with the date (Close to My Heart stamp set, cut with Art Philosophy cartridge), and finished it off with a little bakers twine. I loved the journaling tag from Smash. I have no idea what my son is doing in this picture above...LOL! I sure do love my family!! We have the best time together.

"Spare Me" - Birthday bowling

Happy Wednesday! I pray that all of you are safe after the voilent storms moving through the southern states. It's been raining most of the week here, with a few shots of sunshine to soak up and be thankful for.

Wanted to hop on and share a bowling layout with you today. I used to be on a bowling league in my early 20's. That was quite awhile ago. Back in the day, I used to be an okay bowler, but I certainly didn't stick with it. When Mark's family came in to town for his surprise birthday party in January, we all went bowling together the next day. What a hoot! None of us were very good at it, but it didn't matter. We just wanted to have fun together. I secretly pre-arranged for Mark and I to get the day off from work. Our oldest son Joel did the same. What a great way to play hookie, right?

The diecuts are from Cricut's Nifty Fifties cartridge which gave me the idea to give the whole layout a retro feel. Lots of really fun stuff on that cart. I think you'll like it even if you're not as O.L.D. as I am. Inking the edges of the bowling pin really made it stand out. The title is also from the same cartridge. Isn't it fun? I used the shadow feature to help it pop off the page.

All the circles help repeat the bowling ball theme....smiley face and peace sign patterned papers, circular journalling spots, the border between the pictures, and don't forget the buttons!!  I used a lot of wallet size pictures in order to get a shot of everybody throwing it down the alley.

I hope this inspires you to try a retro layout or maybe go bowling some time just for fun with the family. Be sure to take your camera. Everybody loves to see pictures of their backsides, right? LOL!
